Before You Leave Home: The Smart Shopper's Edge

Buy Souvenirs Before You Go
Disney park merchandise is magical but the markup is real. Buy souvenirs before you leave home. It's less expensive and the quality is often better too. My recommendation: the Steiff Disney Mickey Mouse, a 12" handcrafted premium plush that costs less than a standard Mickey in the park and is of significantly higher quality. Walt Disney himself chose Steiff to create the world's first Mickey Mouse plush toys in 1931. Machine washable and safety tested.

Buy Disney Clothes on Amazon Before You Go
Disney park clothing is wonderful but significantly marked up. Amazon Essentials sells officially licensed Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars shirts in 4-packs at a fraction of the park price. Comfortable for a long day of walking, wash easily, and arrives right to your door. Getting dressed every morning becomes part of the Disney excitement. Available in boys and girls versions.

Know Where Your Child Is at All Times
Disney parks are magical but they're also massive and crowded. This kids GPS tracker wristband works directly with Apple's Find My app and wears like a watch, so it stays on your child rather than in a bag that could get separated. No monthly subscription fee, waterproof, and real-time location right in the Find My app you already use. One of those items that costs very little and delivers enormous peace of mind.
Note: Compatible with Apple/iOS devices only. Not compatible with Android.
Shop GPS Kids Tracker Wristband โStroller Essentials
One of my most-used Disney items. A heavy-duty carabiner clip that attaches to your stroller handle or backpack. Hang your diaper bag, souvenir bags, water bottle, or your Disney popcorn bucket so you don't have to carry it all day. Once you use one at Disney you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. We bring two.
Shop Mommy Hook โA stroller fan is non-negotiable at Disney in summer. Florida heat plus a child sitting still in a stroller is a recipe for a miserable, overheated toddler. The Momcozy Clip-On stays firmly attached without drooping or slipping, is light enough to clip to a stroller handle or baby carrier strap, and has a natural wind setting that's gentler for younger babies. Four speed settings, rechargeable via USB-C, and weighs just 4 ounces.

My go-to sunscreen for any day outside. It leaves a slight white cast but works so well we genuinely don't get burned. Unlike most sunscreens it doesn't sting your eyes when you sweat. Water resistant for up to 80 minutes. Works for the whole family. Available in a lotion or a convenient stick that glides on smoothly for mess-free coverage on faces, ears, and noses without stinging eyes. Great for quick reapplication on kids throughout the day.

Shop SPF Lip Balm โWalking 10-15 miles a day at Disney in Florida heat and humidity is a recipe for chafing. Body Glide has been our solution and it works better than anything else we've tried. Apply before you leave your hotel room in the morning on thighs, underarms, and anywhere skin rubs. Goes on dry, completely invisible, and won't stain your clothes.
Rain Preparation
My go-to rain poncho for Disney. Unlike cheap plastic ponchos that trap heat in Florida humidity, the Frogg Toggs material actually breathes. Large enough to cover your backpack underneath, reusable, and packs down to the size of a soda can. We bring one for every member of the family.
Tech & Power
My personal power bank of choice, bought specifically for a Disney trip. The built-in USB-C and Lightning cables mean no hunting for cords at the bottom of your bag. Charges two devices at once, which is a lifesaver when your phone is dying from the Disney app and you still have hours left in the park. Now it goes everywhere with me.
Shop Belkin Portable Charger โFor iPhone 12 and later users with MagSafe-compatible cases, this is the power bank to have. It snaps magnetically right onto the back of your phone so you can charge hands-free while waiting in line or watching a parade. No cables to fumble with. Compact enough to slip in a pocket, and 5,000mAh provides a full charge for most iPhones. My husband uses this one and won't go back to a traditional power bank.
Shop Anker MagSafe Charger โMagic Bands serve as your park ticket, hotel room key, Lightning Lane access, and payment method all in one tap. Disney no longer includes them free with hotel stays. MagicBand+ starts around $35 for basic colors and up to $50+ for character designs. From a functionality standpoint all designs work exactly the same. The price difference is purely aesthetic.
Bedtime & Hotel Downtime
One of our absolute can't-leave-home-without-it travel items. The Yoto Mini is a screen-free audio player: your child pops in a physical card and their favorite story or music plays instantly. No apps, no ads, no screen. We use it as part of our bedtime routine at home, so having it at Disney keeps things familiar and calming after an overwhelming day in the parks. It also doubles as a white noise machine and entertainment for long car rides. They even make a Disney bundle.

The Hiccapop foam bed bumper installs in seconds under the fitted sheet, fits any size bed, and uses soft foam rather than hard metal rails. BPA-free, certified non-toxic, and backed by a lifetime guarantee. Also available in an inflatable version that packs down even smaller.

My packing cube of choice. Water resistant and fully enclosed so your clothes stay protected even if something spills in your bag. The three sizes work perfectly together: small for underwear and socks, medium for tops, extra small for accessories. Once you start using packing cubes you'll never go back.
Shop Eagle Creek Packing Cubes โDisney resort pools are a great way to unwind after a long day in the parks, but the hotel towels leave something to be desired. We also toss one in the park bag. After a Florida rainstorm or a water ride, having a towel on hand is a lifesaver. Packable microfiber towels fold down to easily fit in your bag, dry in minutes, and are just as absorbent as a regular towel. Grab one per person plus one for the park bag.

Bring Your Own Straws
Disney switched to paper straws and while the intention is great, the execution is not. They get soggy within minutes. Our solution: plant-based compostable straws that hold their shape all day. Individually wrapped so they stay clean in your backpack, flexible for kids, and they actually last. 200 in a pack means enough for the whole trip.

The Travel Spice Shaker Tip
Disney food is great, but after a few days snacks can feel repetitive. We bring a set of travel spice shakers filled with our family's favorites and it completely transforms ordinary park food. The clear airtight containers are moisture-proof and you can see exactly what's inside, so there's no guessing. Fill them with whatever your family loves. We use everything bagel seasoning on bagels, pretzels, and eggs, elote seasoning blend on popcorn, and chile-lime seasoning blend on popcorn. Compact, lightweight, and worth every bit of bag space they take up.
